Since cities started developing in North America, there has been a move to create designated green spaces, both in and outside of urban centers. Although the intention behind these efforts seems pure, the practice of designating these green space is built on colonialism and white supremacy. Whether intentional or not, the principles underpinning the creation of these areas still makes them exclusive and inaccessible to different groups.
